Aaron Rodgers has been heavily criticized both on and off the field this season. When your team is not performing up to par, unwanted media attention can become your worst nightmare. Much of the blame this season has been placed on Green Bay’s wide receivers. Randy Moss and Tedy Bruschi, members of Sunday NFL Countdown, are putting the blame on Rodgers, suggesting that he needs to display better leadership.
Randy Moss, Tedy Bruschi Blast Aaron Rodgers’ Leadership
Both Randy Moss and Tedy Bruschi didn’t hold back when addressing Rodgers’ lack of leadership on Sunday NFL Countdown.
Here’s what Randy Moss had to say:
“Yes, everybody in the Green Bay Packers is frustrated because things are not going well. But what I need to see out of Aaron Rodgers going forward with these young wide receivers — because if you give them some confidence and let them know…what do you always tell a player after they mess up a play? Let it go and move onto the next play. That’s what I need from Rodgers — let it go and lead them onto the next play.”
Tedy Bruschi followed up by saying:
“Is it only leadership if (they’re) winning and doing things right? Because Aaron is a big part of the solution, I think, to help get these guys going. Even if you’re down by 20, still try to get something going for the future or next week or something because all that I’ve seen from this quarterback is, ‘None of it’s my fault, it’s on them.’”
Who’s to blame? Rodgers or the Packers wideouts?
No one individual person is certainly at fault for the Packers’ woeful 2022. Sure, not everybody loved what Rodgers had to say on The Pat Mcafee show, being somewhat critical of his teammates. Could Rodgers display better leadership like Randy Moss and Tedy Bruschi implied on Sunday NFL Countdown? Yes. Could the Packers’ wide receivers step up and be more dependable for Rodgers? Of course. We ultimately do not know what goes on behind closed doors in the Packers organization. I think the only ones that truly have a sense of what’s going on are those inside the locker room.
Nevertheless, seven teams make the playoffs in the NFC. Green Bay currently sits in the 11 spot. Despite the comments from Randy Moss and Tedy Bruschi, there is still an outside chance that the Packers could make the playoffs. It all depends on how the second half of their season goes. Packers’ coaching will need to address any potential leadership issues inside the locker room, if there even are any, before it’s too late.
