Due to a delay in the start of the regular season, the Brewers home opener is now Thursday April 14, 2022. Thursday’s game will be against a NL Central rival in the St Louis Cardinals. This will be the start of a seven game homestand, which is following a seven game road trip against the Cubs and Orioles to begin the season.

Before the series begins, here are three things to know ahead of opening weekend.
1) Thursday’s Home Opener Will Take Place on Milwaukee Day
Thursday’s date is 4/14, which coincides with Milwaukee’s area code of 414. This day has been coined Milwaukee Day. Over the last decade the city has taken this concept and ran with it. It will not be uncommon to see the 414 theme on full display throughout the day across the city and the Brewers will be no different.
For example, Thursdays first pitch against the Cardinals is slated to start at 4:14pm. They additionally ran a ticket promotion for $4.14 and likely will have sales inside the stadium for the same price. The Brewers have been asking everyone to wear their blue and gold on Thursday to not only celebrate Milwaukee Day, but the home opener as well.
2) Corbin Burnes and Josh Hader Will Be Presented Their 2021 Awards Prior To Friday’s Game
Over the past four seasons, a Brewers reliever has won the Trevor Hoffman award. 2021 marked Josh Hader’s third time winning during that span. Along with Hader, Corbin Burnes also was the recipient of a prestigious pitching award based on his performance. Of course I am reference to him winning the 2021 Cy Young award, in which he was the first Brewer to win since 1982. Friday’s ceremony will be very special to see!
Brewers announce they will present Corbin Burnes with the 2021 NL Cy Young Award and Josh Hader with the 2021 NL Reliever of the year Award in a pregame ceremony on Friday, with recorded messages of congratulations from past Brewers award winners.
Perhaps a rare Vuke sighting?

Aside from airing on Bally Sports Wisconsin, multiple radio stations will be covering the game. On the radio, 620 WTMJ, ESPN Milwaukee, and 1017 The Truth will all be available to follow along on. This is the first time that these three radio stations have done this and it really gives you no excuse to miss the game!
