Packers: 3 reasons Green Bay should trade for Jamal Adams

Over the past few weeks, Jamal Adams has clearly voiced that he no longer wants to be a part of the New York Jets organization. He said that it may be time to move on in an Instagram post. However, he still has two years left on his contract and can be tagged for a third.

Adams is seeking a long-term deal prior to the season. But, some sources have said that there are some teams that Adams wouldn’t immediately seek a long term deal with.

People can presume that these teams would have to be teams where he can win a ring soon. The Packers fell one game short of the Super Bowl last year, and a player like Adams could put them over the top.

Let’s take a look at three reasons the Packers should trade for the first team all pro safety.

    3. Solidify Defense

Adams is the type of player that can fly on a defense. Last season alone he had 6.5 sacks, seven passes defended, an interception for a touchdown, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery for a touchdown. Adams makes an impact all over the field while playing deep in the secondary. He is the type of physical player that could flourish in Mike Pettine’s defense.

    2. Run Defense

Last year, the Packers got torched against the run for the majority of the season. Eventually, it was their demise as the 49ers ran all over them to advance to the Super Bowl.

In 2019, the New York Jets allowed the second least rushing yards per game, and Adams was a big part of that. Adams can play in the box just as well deep in the secondary. Having Adams, along with Amos and Savage, could really give the run defense the boost it needs without sacrificing the pass defense.

    1. Leadership

Last year, Za’Darius Smith emerged as the team leader. He was able to add a fire to the defense. Adams himself is a very vocal player with a passion for winning.

Imagine having a defense with the leadership of Za’Darius Smith and Jamal Adams, who are both two of the best at their positions. He would come in immediately and be able to take a leadership role on a winning defense. That should intrigue Green Bay in a big way.
