The end of the college football season is upon us. The College Football Playoff (CFP) has been set as Georgia, Michigan, TCU, and Ohio State will battle for the national championship. For Packers fans, this is a time to get the first look at some possible future Packers players. Here are 3 NFL draft prospects Packers fans should watch during the CFP.
Quentin Johnson WR TCU
Even with the success of Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, Quentin Johnson should be on the list of NFL draft prospects for the Packers to look at. At 6′ 4″ and 215 pounds, Johnson is another big receiver that can bully smaller corners. Despite this, he has also been a downfield threat that opens up the offense for TCU. He is taking on a tough Michigan secondary. This gives him a great opportunity to show off his skills against tough competition. Forming a trio of Watson, Doubs, and Johnson could give the Packers an elite wide receiver room for a long time.
Darnell Washington TE Georgia
The tight end position is basically non-existent for the Packers right now. Robert Tonyan looks like a shell of himself and the others on the roster aren’t working out. Darnell Washington is an NFL draft prospect Packers fans should keep an eye on. He stands 6′ 7″ and 270 pounds but has the agility of someone smaller. He can make tough catches in tight windows as he uses his huge frame to shield defenders. The only knock on him has been his open-field speed. With Christian Watson on the roster, the Packers have their speed guy. Washington would be a great red zone target, something the Packers have been missing this year.
Paris Johnson Jr. OT Ohio State
The Packers have some decisions to make on the offensive line this offseason. Paris Johnson Jr. out of Ohio State is an NFL draft prospect the Packers should take a good look at. Yosh Nijman is a restricted free agent. David Bakhtiari might get cut due to cap concerns or retirement depending on his knee. The tackle position is the most important one in football. Zach Tom has played very well and the Packers may look to solidify the line with another young tackle.
Outside of the CFB playoff, there are two players from Notre Dame Packers fans should watch. Michael Mayer is a TE that has a similar skill set to Darnell Washington. Edge Isaiah Foskey could also help the Packers gain more edge depth behind Rashan Gary and rookie Kingsley Enagbare. He could also make Preston Smith, and more importantly his contract, expendable. Throughout the college football bowl season, there will be tons of NFL draft prospects for Packers fans to watch.
