Here is a look at how each of these players have performed this fall season. We also evaluate what this means for them going forward.
1) Abner Uribe – 10.0 IP, 0.90 ERA, 1 ER, 14 K, 2 BB
Uribe is a guy the Brewers want to see more of. Since signing at the age of 18, the now 22 year old has missed a lot of games due to knee problems. He underwent surgery in April of 2022 and was able to appear in just two minor league games this past season. He is most known for his ability to throw over 100 MPH but control has been an issue for him.
As highlighted in his stats above, his control has been excellent in the AFL this year. This is great news moving forward, especially because he is rule 5 Draft eligible this off-season. Given his potential he likely will be added to the 40-man roster this month and may make his MLB debut in 2023.
2) Jeferson Quero – 40 AB .200/.327/.300/.627
The 20 year old catcher’s offensive numbers may not be eye popping, but his arm strength has been on full display behind the plate. Through the first eleven games of the fall league, he was a perfect 10 for 10 on throwing out base runners.
In his first full minor league season in 2022, the Brewers seventh ranked prospect played in both the Low-A and High-A levels. All together he slashed a combined .286/.342/.439 with 10 homers and 57 RBIs. He should be a fun prospect to keep an eye on in 2023.
3) Zavier Warren – 63 AB .317/.476/.413/.889
Warren, the Brewers third round pick in the 2020 MLB draft, is playing very well this fall. In addition to his impressive slash line, he has one home run, double, and triple. He has been a good run producer as he has collected 14 RBI and drawn an impressive 19 walks.
To end the minor league season, Warren was playing in Double-A. He slowed down a bit offensively in 2022 so to see him perform well in the AFL is encouraging. Hopefully this will give him some momentum heading into next year.
