For the past week, the NFL has been leaking out certain games from the schedule. Experts and talkshow hosts have been discussing which games they want to see and their thoughts on how the schedule will turn out in general. Something else the NFL world has talked about are who will get the most primetime games. A primetime game is a late game on Sunday, Monday, or Thursday night. They’re called primetime games because they are the only games played at that time, unlike noon and afternoon games with multiple teams playing. First let’s see who ended up having the most primetime games.
Four Teams Have Six Primetime Games
According to Draft King’s article, the four teams that are tied for the most primetime games are the Chiefs, Chargers, Bills, and Cowboys. The Chiefs are no surprise since they just held up the Lombardi trophy. Neither are the Bills since Josh Allen is one of the funnest quarterbacks to watch with his unbelievable plays. Of course “America’s team” has to have the most primetime games. One surprise for me is the Chargers. I understand that on paper they are loaded with talent, and Herbert makes crazy throws look easy with his cannon of an arm, but they always underwhelm in games they should win. Plus, they had one of the biggest breakdowns in NFL history.
Still, these are the teams that the NFL schedule makers decided to give the spotlight to the most. I can’t argue with them and it might turn out as exciting as they expect it to. Now it is time to move on to the next list of teams. These seven teams were right behind this group with five primetime games in 2023. The Jets, Giants, Vikings, Raiders, Eagles, 49ers, and…that’s right.

Packers Have Five Primetime Games
Of the teams that have five primetime games, they all surprise me except for the Jets. I know the world wants to see how the loaded Jets team does with Rodgers, who many want to know if he’s still got it. The Eagles and 49ers surprise me in that they didn’t get as many as the first group with six primetime games. The Eagles just went to the Super Bowl and the 49ers are arguably in the top 5 of best teams in the league. I don’t think they deserve to have as many primetime games as the Giants, Viking, Raiders, and (I’ll admit it) Packers.
Honestly, the fact that the Packers have five primetime games is a total shocker to me. I was not expecting that, one bit. I was expecting two, maybe three tops. I’m filled with joy that they have so many, don’t get me wrong. It was just a big surprise. I don’t live in the Wisconsin area, so this gives me more chances to watch them without having to go out to a bar. Now, while I may be ecstatic about the Packers having so many primetime games, what does this mean for Love and the Packers?

Jordan Love and Matt LaFleur on the Spotlight
Now that we know how many times the Packers will be on primetime, we know that this is going to be a crucial year for both Jordan Love and Matt LaFleur. The world is going to be watching them multiple times. Some say that the schedule release is a win for Jordan Love. I understand the thought behind that, I don’t see it like that though. This just puts more pressure on our QB and HC. If the Packers play horribly on all of these games, they could both be gone next year. On the other hand, they could go out and dominate all of them. That would be the best case scenario.
The teams they face though are the Lions, Raiders, Chiefs, Giants, and Vikings. The Vikings and Lions are rivals, so those are always tough and close games. New York Giants are an ascending team. No one knows how the Raiders will be so that is a winnable game. Then we got the Champs. All of these games are going to be very difficult ones; Even the Raiders could be better than expected. I hope for nothing but the best for Jordan Love and the Packers, but having so many primetime games might just backfire on them.
Either way, I will be out there rooting them the whole way. I hope the rest of you will too.
