Mock Draft season is over, and the 2023 NFL Draft is finally here, with the consensus being this is one of the most unpredictable drafts ever. Even a recent Reddit rumor threw the notion of Alabama quarterback Bryce Young being a lock to go No. 1 into question. How many quarterbacks will go in the top 10? Which wide receiver goes first? Does a tight end get drafted in the first round? We will all find out soon enough. Here. We. Go.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number One:
The Carolina Panthers have selected Alabama QB Bryce Young with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He will be the face of the franchise with new HC Frank Reich. A new era in Carolina.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Two:
The Houston Texans have selected Ohio State QB CJ Stroud with the No. 2 overall pick. The intrigue is over and the Texans hope to land the franchise QB.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Three:
***Trade*** The Houston Texans are sending picks No. 12, No. 33, a 2024 1st and a 2024 3rd to Arizona for No. 3 and No. 105. The Texans take defense end Will Anderson. A massive trade early on.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Four:
With the No. 4 overall pick, the Indianapolis Colts select Anthony Richardson. Another franchise hopes to get their QB of the future.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Five:
The Seattle Seahawks hold off on trade offers and take Illinois CB Devon Witherspoon at No. 5. They pass on Jalen Carter and take the top corner on their board ahead of Detroit.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Six:
***TRADE*** The Detroit Lions trade pick number 6 to the Arizona Cardinals for picks number 12 and 34. With the 6th pick the Cardinals take Ohio State OT Paris Johnson after moving back up. Protection for when Kyler Murray returns. They still get the top offensive tackle on their board. Well done.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Seven:
The Las Vegas Raiders take Texas Tech DE Tyree Wilson at No. 7 and will pair him with Maxx Crosby. Not a corner or offensive linemen like most suspected. They still get arguably the best defensive end in the draft.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Eight:
The Atlanta Falcons take Texas RB Bijan Robinson at No. 8. Bijan Robinson is joining Drake London and Kyle Pitts in Atlanta’s offense. A dymanic trio.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Nine:
***TRADE*** The Chicago Bears have traded pick number 9 to the Eagles for pick 10 and a 4th round pick in 2024. The Philadelphia Eagles take DT Jalen Carter, one of the best players in the draft.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Ten:
The Chicago Bears select Tennessee OT Darnell Wright with pick No. 10. A true RT and an immediate plug-and-play. Protection for Justin Fields.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Eleven:
The Tennessee Titans take Northwestern T/G Peter Skoronski at No. 11. Some important protection up front after a messy year last season.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Twelve:
Stunner: The Detroit Lions take Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs at Number 12. Absolute stunner.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Thirteen:
The Green Bay Packers at No. 13 selected Iowa DE Lukas Van Ness. The streak of not taking a WR continues.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Fourteen:
The New England Patriots trade the 14th overall pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Patriots get pick number 17 and a fourth-rounder. With the pick, the Steelers get protection for Kenny Pickett at No. 14. Georgia OT Broderick Jones is the pick.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Fifteen:
The New York Jets decide to go defense at No. 15 and select Iowa State DE Will McDonald IV. Another piece for HC Robert Saleh.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Sixteen:
The Washington Commanders at No. 16 take Mississippi State CB Emmanuel Forbes. Secondary help for Ron Rivera and Forbes.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Seventeen:
The New England Patriots select Oregon CB Christian Gonzalez at No. 17. He somehow falls this far for Bill Belichick. A perfect fit.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Eighteen:
The Detroit Lions, back on the clock, they take Iowa LB Jack Campbell at No. 18. An interesting night for Detroit so far.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Nineteen:
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers take Pitt DT Calijah Kancey at No. 19. Tampa loves their defensive line and keep adding there.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Twenty:
Our first WR: The Seattle Seahawks select Ohio State WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba at No. 19. He joins DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett in Seattle.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Twenty-One:
The Los Angeles Chargers selected TCU WR Quentin Johnston with pick No. 21, adding another weapon for QB Justin Herbert. WRs now coming off the board.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Twenty-Two:
Three wide receivers in a row: The Baltimore Ravens take Boston College’s Zay Flowers at No. 22. So on the same day Baltimore locks up Lamar Jackson, they also add one of the most fun weapons to watch in this entire draft.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Twenty-Three:
The Minnesota Vikings selected USC WR Jordan Addison at No. 23, adding him with Justin Jefferson. That’s four straight receivers.
2023 NFL Draft Pick Number Twenty-Four:
The Jacksonville Jaguars traded No. 24 to the New York Giants. With the 24th pick the Giants selected Maryland CB Deonte Banks. He has drawn comparisons to current Ravens Pro Bowler Marlon Humphrey.
