This article is part of a series looking at expectations for the Brewers position units in the 2023 season. Additional coverage is available on starting pitchers, bullpen arms, and outfielders.
Milwaukee Brewers Position Expectations: Catcher

With the addition of William Contreras over the off-season, the Brewers boosted up behind the dish. William brings a power bat that the Brew Crew lacked last year, along with decent defensive skills. Returning to the team for 2023, Victor Caratini looks to be a backup for Contreras. Victor was a solid backup for Omar Narvaez (who signed with the New York Mets). If the Brewers choose to carry a third catcher, it would be Alex Jackson, but he looks to be starting in Triple-A as he spent most of his time there last year.
Milwaukee Brewers Position Expectations: Corner Infield Spots

At the corner spots of the infield the Brewers have a couple of options, but a lot of familiar faces from 2022. At first base, the Opening Day starter will probably be Rowdy Tellez. Now, that Keston Hiura is either going to get traded or released, Luke Voit looks to be getting the roster spot. Owen Miller, who we acquired from Cleveland is also an option at first base. Third base has multiple MLB starters that we could see. Luis Urias, Brian Anderson, and Mike Brosseau are the three players we could see at third.
Milwaukee Brewers Position Expectations: Middle Infield

In the middle of the field everything will stay the same at shortstop. We will see fan-favorite Willy Adames being backed up by Luis Urias. At second base we could see a lot of different options. The Brewers brought in Abraham Toro in the offseason, but with third base being up in the air, we could see Urias, Mike Brosseau, or top prospect Brice Turang. Second base will be a fun position to see what Craig Counsell does throughout the season.
Milwaukee Brewers Position Expectations: Rounding Up The Infield

2023 looks to be a season of new and exciting players for the Brew Crew. We could see fantastic things from this team, with an elite pitching staff, solid defenders, and some big bats. Look for Milwaukee to be in the playoff talk all season.
