    2022 Packers Captains Announced

Week 1 is right around the corner. The Packers are preparing for their key divisional matchup with the Minnesota Vikings. Today, the Packers captains were announced.

    Packers Offensive Captains

In a surprised to no one, Aaron Rodgers was named as one of the captains for the team. Whether he was officially named a captain or not, Rodgers is clearly a leader of the team. Players look up to him and his standard for play. Aaron Jones is the second offensive player to be named captain. Jones has been an offensive stud for the Packers since he arrived. His production and leadership of the backfield is unquestioned. The last player, Mercedes Lewis, is not known for his production. Watch any time Lewis catches a pass, the players rally around him and celebrate like crazy. This is a great crew of 2022 Packers captains on the offensive side of the ball.

    Packers Defensive Captains

The Most Important Green Bay Packers: Adrian Amos Is The 'Steady Eddie' Of The Secondary

On the defensive side of the ball, defensive lineman Kenny Clark was named a captain. The senior on the defensive line, Clark has quietly been on top of his position for years. In the secondary, Adrian Amos was named a captain for the Packers. While Jaire Alexander and Rasul Douglas get a lot of the headlines, Amos is one of the greatest Packers free agent signings ever. According to PFF, he is a top 50 player in the NFL going into 2022. Finally, All Pro linebacker De’Vondre Campbell got the nod for captain. He runs the defense from his linebacker spot so it makes sense that he was named as a captain.

    Any Snubs?

A.J. Dillon Has Become What the Packers Need Him To Be - Zone Coverage

To me, there are not any obvious snubs. Rashan Gary is one that comes to mind as he has shown some leadership skills during training camp. However, he is still a young player who is trying to prove himself. I think AJ Dillon is another player who has the title of future captain but just isn’t ready right now. I think these choices are perfect for the Packers and I do not see any players feeling hurt for not getting a nod. This team is on the same page of what the goals for the season are.
