The Milwaukee Brewers got good pieces but there are still some moves they need to make, especially with the exit of shortstop Willy Adames. Jose Iglesias might be the answer.
It would be a full decade by 2025 since the first and only All-Star appearance (through the Detroit Tigers) by the Cuban player but the age should not get in the way for Brewers scouts as an MLB analyst thinks he will be a great fit with them.
His own song OMG made him a fan favorite with his last team New York Mets but don’t get fooled. He is more than just an entertainer. Fans loved him for hitting streak of 22 while batting batting .395 (34-for-86) in the last three weeks of September.
SB Nation’s Paul Dietrich thinks Iglesias will be great fit with the Brewers because of his performance from last season.
“Jose Iglesias, after a year out of the majors, had a wildly effective season last year at age 34, but I would be extremely dubious of his offensive numbers (he had a sky-high BABIP); if the Brewers (and his agent) aren’t expecting him to hit like he did last year, he could be an option,” Dietrich wrote.
Why Milwaukee Brewers has a chance on Jose Iglesias?
Money is the main issue for the Brewers this 2025 free agency. Good thing for them, the 34-year-old shortstop doesn’t cost that much.
Other shortstops being linked to the club are expensive but Iglesias is worth just $1.7 million according to a report by Sportrac.
Iglesias remains a solid hitter and he could be a great complement to the team’s young score.
