The Milwaukee Brewers are 7-9 so far in spring training games, and the second wave of big league roster cuts are here. Six players were reassigned during the first wave eight days ago. This go around 10 players have either been reassigned or optioned to Minor League camp.
During this second wave, Alex Jackson, Alex Claudio, Robert Gasser, J.C. Mejia, Colin Rea, and Thyago Vieira have been reassigned to Minor League camp. Abner Uribe, Janson Junk, Cam Robinson, and Ethan Small were all optioned to Triple-A.

Of the Brewers players optioned to Triple-A, all were pitchers.
Looking at the pitchers who were optioned, Ethan Small was the only player who was on the Brewers roster last season. Walks were an issue for the southpaw last year and in five innings this spring he walked three batters. He also struck out six, but allowed four earned runs (7.20 ERA).
Out of this group, Abner Uribe was perhaps the most impressive. Brewers media was raving about his performances this spring that included pitches being thrown in the triple digits. In four innings this spring he struck out six batters and did not allow an earned run. There is a lot of promise for this 22 year old flamethrower and we likely will see him at some point in 2023.
Another young prospect who was optioned was Cam Robinson. Robinson threw three innings, allowed one hit, struck out four, and did not allow an earned run. This 23 year old reliever should be a focal point in Nashville’s bullpen to start the season.
Last is Janson Junk. He was acquired during the Hunter Renfroe trade and was competing for a spot in the Brewers starting rotation. His spring got off to a tough start as he allowed four runs and did not record an out in his first game. He then settled in and threw five scoreless innings over two outings. It’s possible that Milwaukee utilizes Junk during the season, but for now he will start in Triple-A.
